Gilbert du Motier de Lafayette (1757-1834)

Lt.-General Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette

Beautiful French Porcelain honoring the Marquis De LaFayette, a personal friend and supporter of George Washington in the American Revolution. He apparently was in some regard, the catalyst for the French Revolution which led to the beheading of the French Royals.

This is a 1976 American Bicentennial Collector plate produced in France, that is now 50 years old. Only 3000 plates were created especially for Gaston De Lagrange Cognac - France.... the home and Castle once owned by the Marquis de Lafayette - La Grange, France. Other editions may be exist in other styles but this plate was made for the former home of the Marquis de Lafayette.

Coincidentally, next month America will celebrate another milestone.. 250 years.

Backstamp: JS Made in China +? makers name?, 8" tall and about 4" across diameter of belly, some gilt embellishments , colorful it feels like over the glaze painting, Clean I see no damage, Looks like it was only a cabinet display piece, Age - post 1921 (Does say "Made IN" which would be required after 1921 )

very nice, pretty plate in oriental design. heavy hotel grade china. 9 1/4" diameter, back stamp says rimrol welroc l-16 which i think is date code 1958

no chips cracks or repairs to this 1958 platte which shows some slight use scratches to glaze. One small manufacturing/firing defect on back where glaze did not take but not considered damage.
